The winner of the Derby Public Library Scholarship Prize for 2011 is Victoria Lazowski.  Vickie thanks her mother for her early visits to the Library, which led to many fond memories.  She participated in many programs including the summer reading clubs.  Later she would visit the Library to use the many resources available to complete school assignments.  When she entered high school, Vickie became a volunteer in the Children’s Room.  This gave her the opportunity to share her love of reading with the young patrons and participate in the planning of those summer reading programs that she so enjoyed when she was younger.  Vickie credits the Library for helping her to become a well rounded person.  A graduate of Derby High School, Vickie will attend St. Joseph College in West Hartford in the fall to major in social work.  Her name will be added to the scholarship plaque hanging in the Library’s Young Adult department.  Congratulations, Vickie, and continued success!
